Vocabulary Builder for All Vocabularies

Vocabulary Builder™ just got even better! It’s now available across all vocabularies!

This popular teaching tool helps your learners focus on key words by reducing the visual display while maintaining consistent button placement. For Minspeak® systems like LAMP Words for Life®, this means preserving the motor plan—supporting automaticity through repeated movement patterns. For other vocabulary files, Vocabulary Builder ensures a stable and predictable location for words, promoting ease of access and confident navigation. Start with words that spark your communicator’s interest or use a pre-stored word list and watch communication grow!

Accessible on new and previously purchased NovaChat devices, the video below shows how Vocabulary Builder works with WordPower®.

Fresh Features for Vocabulary Builder

• When creating a new list of words:
  • use the magnifying glass button to search the vocabulary
  • a “select all” check box appears if a word has more than one pathway; check the box to add all instances of that word to your list 
• The on/off toggle on the Vocabulary Builder list screen was moved so it’s accessible for devices with Keyguards
• When you are in edit mode with Vocabulary Builder, buttons that reflect current list words are in full color and hidden buttons are now gray
• The added spinner is a visual cue to wait before turning Vocabulary Builder on and off

Acapela Voices Update

Check out the new Canadian English and Canadian French Acapela voices that have been added. We’re excited for our friends in Canada to have more options to personalize their AAC experience!

Word Finder Improvement

The Word Finder™ feature has been updated in all vocabularies. The Find Word button action, located on Keyboard or ABC123 pages, now clears the last word in the speech display bar rather than saying it aloud twice. This is especially helpful for our friends who use echolalic speech.

New! Poppins Font

Introducing Poppins – the newest font option for Chat Software! Poppins was selected as the font letters reflect the way we teach emergent communicators to write the letters “a” and “g” like in the image below.

The Poppins font can be used for text on vocabulary buttons as well as in the speech display bar . It’s the new default font for LAMP Words for Life. Try out Poppins in the vocabulary of your choice by following this menu pathway: Menu > Edit Mode > hold down on any button > Button Style Override > Vocabulary tab > Select Font Settings > Go to Font on right and select Poppins. Adjust your font size as needed.

• new updates could reduce your device performance

• The Writing to Apps page now has buttons for Timer and Chat GPT
• A calculator button was added to the number pages in WordPower files 42 through 120; you will need a calculator app on your device for this button to work effectively
• Buttons for zooming in and out were added to the COMPUTER CONTROL pages in WordPower files 60 through 140

WordPower48 Basic

• Try the new clear-display option added to the gesture down swipe and start again with a blank speech display window for your next communication
• A button for “it again” now follows do on the main page making this frequent phrase even more accessible
• Use the new button for “Danny Go” on the TV page to talk about this popular show
• Logical next words for go > that > way have been added to help your communicator give directions
  
• You can now Navigate to Home on WhatsApp on the Writing to Apps page

WordPower60 Basic
