Familiar Symbols. Faster Visuals. More Time For Communication.

Published October 21, 2026

PRC-Saltillo welcomes Ner Chat—and Minspeak symbols are coming to Glint

Imagine a teacher preparing for tomorrow’s lesson. In just seconds, she uses Glint to turn an idea into a visual schedule, a classroom activity board or a personalized support for a student. Then she reaches the children who use LAMP Words for Life® or Unity® and has to stop. The symbols they know aren’t yet available in Glint.

That simple, everyday need is one example of what brought PRC-Saltillo and Ner Chat together. PRC-Saltillo has acquired Ner Chat, the company behind Glint. Glint helps educators and specialists turn hours of visual-support prep into seconds, so that time goes back to their learners. Together, the two companies combine deep AAC experience, school-focused creativity, and technical agility to explore new ways to make communication support easier to create and use. Bringing familiar Minspeak® symbols into Glint is the first opportunity our teams are pursuing together—so educators and clinicians can create useful visuals faster and spend more time supporting communication.

Deep roots, shared purpose

PRC-Saltillo’s roots in assistive technology stretch back to 1966, with 2026 marking our 60th anniversary. PRC-Saltillo’s products and technology solutions encompass AAC devices, apps, vocabulary systems, and implementation supports, grounded in relationships with communicators, families, educators and clinicians.

Ner Chat began with a complementary focus: Dylan Makani and Scott Soifer founded the company in 2024 to make assistive technology easier to bring into schools. Glint gives teams a fast way to create personalized visual supports from simple text prompts.

Our teams come together with a shared purpose: make communication support easier to put into everyday use. Our shared purpose is practical: make communication support easier to put into everyday use.

“Our history is built on relationships with people who use AAC and the families, educators and clinicians supporting them. Those teams tell us what they need. We want to make it easier for support teams to create useful materials with the symbols a child already knows – and spend more time supporting communication.”

- Sarah Wilds, CEO of PRC-Saltillo

Minspeak symbols are coming to Glint

The planned addition will bring PRC-Saltillo’s Minspeak symbols into Glint—the familiar symbols used in LAMP Words for Life and Unity AAC apps, and in Minspeak-based systems on Genesis™, NovaChat®, Accent® and Via® devices.

For teams supporting a child who uses a Minspeak-based system, this means a simpler path to creating visual supports and low-tech backup AAC with familiar symbols. Think classroom activity boards, visual schedules, choice-making materials and supports for communication away from a device.

Glint already creates schedules, social narratives and communication boards from text prompts, with options for QR-code sharing in more than 50 languages. Adding Minspeak symbols will help connect that creation process with the communication tools children and their teams already use.

“Every child deserves to be understood, and the people supporting them shouldn't spend their nights building materials to make that happen. We built Glint to give that time back. For nearly 60 years, PRC-Saltillo has helped people find their voice, and Minspeak symbols are the language so many kids already use on their devices. Bringing those symbols into Glint means a teacher can build a support in seconds that matches how a child communicates all day.”

- Dylan Makani, Co-founder & CEO of Ner Chat

Minspeak symbols in Glint debut at Closing The Gap, where the teams will demo a beta. Customer availability will follow. This is the first thing PRC-Saltillo and Glint are building together, and there’s more to come.

Questions You May Have

What does the acquisition mean for Glint?

Ner Chat is now part of the PRC-Saltillo community, and Glint will retain its own brand identity.

When can I use Minspeak symbols in Glint?

We’re aiming to show a beta at Closing The Gap. The feature is coming soon to customers; a customer release date has not yet been confirmed.

Who will have access?

When released, Minspeak symbols will be available to anyone with a Glint account.

Will other symbol sets and languages be available?

Yes, we plan to add more symbol sets and languages over time. If you own a symbol set and would like to see it in Glint, we’d love to hear from you at info@NerChat.com

Does Glint replace my child’s AAC device or app?

No. Glint is a visual-support creation tool that complements—not replaces—AAC apps and devices. The new symbol option is intended to help teams create supporting materials and low-tech backup AAC, rather than automatically reproduce a complete device vocabulary.
