Windows 10 Pro End-of-Support For Accent Devices

Notice to Accent Device Users Running on Windows 10 Pro

Microsoft® is planning to end support for Windows® 10 Home and Professional on October 14, 2025. Devices running those versions of Windows after that date will no longer receive product or security updates from Microsoft. This impacts several Accent® device models. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are committed to supporting you. With that in mind, we are providing options to change your Accent’s operating system to Windows 10 IoT LTSC which includes security updates until 2032 for eligible devices.

What Accent devices are eligible for Windows 10 IoT LTSC?

The following Accent device models were built and shipped in the last five years with Windows 10 Pro:

• Accent 800 devices shipped between September 1, 2020 and December 19, 2022 (Serial Numbers 13429AC8-17999AC8)
• Accent 1000 devices shipped between September 1, 2020 and December 9, 2022 (Serial Numbers 15079AC10-19999AC10)
• Accent 1400 devices shipped between September 1, 2020 and September 6, 2024 (Serial Numbers 10506AC14-14241AC14) Note: Accent 1400 devices shipped after September 6, 2024 changed to Windows 10 IoT LTSC

Note: Your device serial number is located on the back of your device. You can also check which operating system your device has by selecting Windows Start – Settings – System – About. Your operating system will be shown under Windows Specifications – Edition.

What options are available from PRC-Saltillo?

If you would like to convert your operating system to Windows 10 IoT, here are your options.

1. Update Your Device at Home
   Request a kit so that you can perform the update without sending your device into service. You will receive a flash drive with the necessary tools and instructions for the process. Available at no cost.

2. Send in Your Device
   Request to send in your device to have our service team update it for you. Due to the short turnaround time on the software transition, service loaners are not available. Available at no cost to devices under warranty. For devices not under warranty, this is available as a standalone service for a fee of $250. You can also request this update when your device is in for another repair.

What happens after the end-of-support date on October 14, 2025?

Windows will continue to function normally after end-of-support. Over time, an out-of-date operating system increases risk from viruses and other malicious software. Updates to PRC-Saltillo Empower® and NuVoice® software are not affected. We are committed to supporting every device for at least five years after it is built and shipped.

For customers with unlocked devices willing to sync their local device account to a Windows account, Microsoft is offering one year of extended security updates for free. Read more about the Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) Program.

How is Windows 10 IoT LTSC different from Windows 10 Pro?

The two operating systems have many similarities. However, Windows 10 IoT LTSC does not include the Microsoft Store or certain default Windows apps such as Calendar, Clock, Calculator, Camera, Mail, Paint 3D, Phone Link, Photos, Sticky Notes, and Voice Recorder. If you have apps installed from the Microsoft Store, you will need to find an alternative or download and install it from another source.

Note: NuVoice or Empower software function the same in both operating systems.

Can my device be upgraded to Windows 11?

Older models of the Accent 800 and Accent 1000 (shipping prior to January 2022), and the Accent 1400 do not meet the system requirements for Windows 11.

Is there a deadline for requesting my Windows 10 IoT upgrade?

Yes, please contact service within one year (October 1, 2026).

How do I know if it’s time to purchase a new AAC device?
