Communication happens in context—in the kitchen while making breakfast, during a conversation at a café, in the classroom between lessons, or in the middle of the school hallway when something unexpected occurs.
Scene & Heard Pro brings communication back into those real, meaningful moments by using personalized photos and videos to support language, interaction, and understanding. Having this app in the PRC-Saltillo community expands access to visual scene display AAC across our global community!
In early 2026, Scene & Heard Pro became part of the PRC-Saltillo community following the acquisition of the Therapy Box suite of apps. The addition of Scene and Heard Pro to our range of apps marks an exciting step forward in our mission to provide AAC which meets each communicator’s individual needs across the globe. This proven visual scene tool complements existing AAC solutions including LAMP Words for Life®, TouchChat®, Unity® AAC, and Dialogue® AAC.
Scene & Heard Pro is a visual scene display AAC app that lets you take photos or videos from everyday life and turn them into interactive communication tools. Add hotspots anywhere on the image or video, with each hotspot able to be programmed to speak a message, play a video, or link to another scene.
The app includes four flexible scene types to tailor communication support to each communicator’s needs, age, and context:
Scene & Heard Pro also comes with practical tools like visual timetables, communication books, scene sharing, export/import, and Transition to Literacy features designed to help build reading skills.
And with recent updates adding timers, scales for choice making or expressing feelings, and enhanced hotspot options, the app continues to grow its capabilities.
Scene & Heard Pro supports multiple languages, helping communicators access AAC in the language that best fits them and their environment.
Select your preferred language from first launch or change it at any time in Settings. When a language is chosen, the app updates menus and default content—including visual scenes and communication books—into the selected language, making navigation and customization clearer and more intuitive.
Scene & Heard Pro currently supports several languages:
Because communication is personal, voices aren’t automatically assigned. Instead, you are guided to choose the text‑to‑speech voice that feels right to support identity, comfort, and confidence. This builds on the app’s long‑standing flexibility, where users have always been able to create scenes using their own recordings or text in any language.
Scene and Heard Pro has a wealth of features that can support a range of people and for multiple purposes.
Visual scenes are a well-established tool for supporting people with aphasia because they ground communication in familiar, meaningful imagery. Research shows that context rich photographs can create effective communication media for adults with aphasia using AAC.
Scene & Heard Pro allows clinicians and families to:
This helps reduce breakdowns and supports confidence, independence, and participation in everyday life.
In busy classrooms, students benefit from clear routines, predictable schedules, and communication tools they can access quickly.
Scene & Heard Pro includes a visual timetable builder, allowing staff to create structured, easy-to-understand schedules. These timetables can support transitions and help students understand what's coming next. This may help them feel safer, calmer, and ready to learn. Plus, in iOS, the visual timetable can provide reminders when it’s time for the next activity.
School teams can also create:
It’s a practical, flexible way to embed AAC across the school day.
For children and adults at early communication stages, Scene & Heard Pro offers ways to build simple, motivating interactions using highly personalized content.
Using a single photo, professionals or families can:
This scaffolded approach supports engagement, language development, and progression over time.
When trying to learn the steps in a routine, it can be challenging to remember what comes next or what we could say.
With the video scenes in Scene and Heard Pro you can add hotspots that contain key information or messages at chosen points in the sequence. The possibilities of how you can use this are endless but may include:
Being able to view the video sequence and access the hotspots with the relevant information at meaningful times in the sequence helps to consolidate learning and build confidence.
Many individuals who use AAC communicate in more than one language, and Scene & Heard Pro offers flexible tools that help families and professionals build communication supports that reflect linguistic and cultural identities.
With personalized scenes, communication partners can:
This supports individuals who move between languages at home, school, and in the community. It also allows families to build AAC that aligns with their cultural and linguistic world, helping reinforce identity, reduce communication breakdowns, and make everyday interactions more meaningful.
Across home, school, community, and clinical environments, Scene & Heard Pro centers communication and learning around real experiences—reinforcing meaning, supporting recall, and strengthening connections.
Whether helping an adult with aphasia rebuild confidence in conversation, supporting a pupil navigating a busy school day, or engaging an early communicator with personalized photos and simple choices, the app offers a practical, intuitive, and research aligned way to support communication.
