How to Update Your Accent Device

The links below offer step-by-step instructions to help you through the software update process. Update your device in one of two ways:

• Connect to Wi-Fi
• Use a USB flash drive

Before you start the update:

• Choose a time when your device is less needed or lite-tech AAC could be used as you won't be able to use the device while it’s updating
• Plug in your device with the provided battery charger

Empower 1.28 Software Highlights

• Enhanced the Timocco launch process to ensure seamless loading of individual games
• Corrected an error where stimulus size was not changing during eye tracking calibration
• Updated English and Spanish vocabularies to support richer and more inclusive communication
• Upgraded the Join-In Web Apps to deliver a more responsive and feature-rich experience
• Improved user experience when a web page fails to load in the Web Browser
• Corrected the pronunciation of the word “y” in Spanish Acapela voices for more accurate speech output

Battery Optimization Update for Accent 800

As part of our ongoing commitment to device reliability and performance, a firmware update designed to optimize battery performance on Accent 800 devices was included with both Empower 1.28 and NuVoice 2.38 software updates.

• The update addresses a rare condition where battery capacity could be reduced after extended use in low and high temperatures
• If your device was affected, performance may improve after completing a full charge–discharge–charge cycle; this can be done by fully charging your device, then letting the device be used (or inactive) until the battery is fully discharged, then charging it again
• Not all devices were impacted, and the degree of improvement may vary

Battery Care Tips

• Avoid exposing your device to extreme temperatures
• Always charge your device in a well-ventilated area, preferably on the stand
• Confirm the battery charged to the expected level
• Optimize the Power Management settings for extended battery run time
