Symbol use Permission Guidelines

We are thrilled that you would like to create and share resources to help support others on their AAC journey! 

Some PRC-Saltillo products and services use symbol sets with licensed permission from other companies. Your ability to use these symbol sets to create your own support materials depends on how you want to use the materials you create: who the materials are for, how and to whom they will be distributed, and which symbol set you would like to use.

I would like to use materials created by PRC-Saltillo:

PRC-Saltillo materials from your PRC-Saltillo consultant or downloaded from our website or another service such as AAC Language Lab (for example, these playground core communication boards on AAC Language Lab) may be use under the following circumstances.

You certify that:

• It will only be shared at no charge within your facility, clinic, or school and with clients, their families, and members of their treatment teams. 
• This use is intended to support those who provide direct support to clients using PRC-Saltillo devices and apps.

PRC-Saltillo materials may only be used if they have not been edited or changed and if they retain the original copyright statement provided by PRC-Saltillo.

I would like to create boards and materials using demonstration software distributed by PRC-Saltillo (e.g. ChatEditor, Empower, NuVoice PASS): 

You certify that: 

• It will only be shared at no charge within my facility, clinic, or school and with clients, their families, and members of their treatment teams. 
• This use is intended to support those who provide direct support to clients using PRC-Saltillo devices and apps.
• Permissible use is limited to 100 symbols per material and must include the following copyright statement:

  • SymbolStix: © 2024 PRC-Saltillo. The symbols used in this work are owned by n2y, LLC. Used with permission under license. © 2024.

For use of Minspeak® symbols** as used in PRC applications 

• For use of Minspeak symbols** in printed materials you create that use less than 100 symbols per material and are intended to share within your facility, clinic or school and your clients, their families, and members of their treatment team, and/or on a free website, the symbols may be used with the following statement:

• For any other use of Minspeak symbols** not authorized above (such as for re-sale or other distribution) Please fill out the form below in order to seek proper permission. Unauthorized use is not permitted. If you are unsure where your use falls, please fill out the form to obtain permission. 
• Please Note: Minspeak symbols** may not be distributed in any “high tech” form (e.g., used in any other AAC program, as an app, distributed via electronic means, etc.)
• **Minspeak symbols include those used in Unity, LAMP Words for Life, and UNIDAD vocabulary systems.
