Lauren Lowrie

instructor imageLauren Lowrie, M.A., CCC-SLP, earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant for Deaf culture. This experience ignited her passion for educating others about disabilities and diverse communication methods.

Before joining PRC-Saltillo, Lauren worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a variety of settings, including schools, Illinois Early Intervention, private practice, ABA clinics, home health, and nursing homes. She was dedicated to helping clients access communication through low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods, including securing funding for their own dedicated speech-generating devices through insurance.

Transitioning to an AAC Consultant role in Illinois, Lauren utilized her feature-matching skills to support SLPs in trialing various speech-generating devices, software options, mounting, and alternative access methods. She also assisted SLPs with gathering all the necessary paperwork components for insurance approval in Illinois. Lauren finds joy in training and educating SLPs, families, and multidisciplinary teams across hospitals, schools, clinics, private practices, and universities on how to support patients in utilizing speech-generating devices through aided language input. She is particularly passionate about helping others customize individualized vocabulary to reflect the unique personalities and communication needs of each user.

Lauren holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a state license in Speech-Language Pathology from Illinois, and is credentialed with the Illinois Early Intervention program.
