Emily Simon, M.A., CCC-SLP,earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati in Communication Sciences and Disorders and completed her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Akron in 2022.
Prior to joining PRC-Saltillo, Emily worked as an outpatient pediatric speech-language pathologist in a Children’s Hospital where she served on their AAC team and supported patients who use low-tech to high-tech AAC and had a variety of speech and language disorders. As a therapist, she completed AAC evaluations, device trials, supported with device implementation, and provided ongoing speech therapy. Emily also had experience working for a county Educational Service Center (ESC) supporting students within special education classrooms. As a SLP, Emily worked with students and patients with varying abilities and diagnosis including ASD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Pasly, Angelman Syndrome, Canavan Disease, and Sanfilippo Syndrome. Emily has a passion for exploring AAC and different access methods with patients and students by supporting them and their families along the journey of finding their voice. Emily shared “communication is powerful and a fundamental right.”
Emily holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a state license in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Ohio.
