Cherianne Anderson, OTR/L, earned a Bachelor’s degree at Western State College of Colorado in Exercise and Sport Science. She then went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in San Marcos, CA in 2013. Prior to completing these degrees, Cherianne had the opportunity to work with children of all ability levels during hippotherapy sessions. This experience ignited her passion to help others obtain skills and participate in activities that are meaningful and purposeful to them no matter their current skills and abilities. She became an occupational therapist in order to help others achieve their great potentials. Her love of AAC developed while working with adults in a skilled nursing facility. Here she was able to see AAC become a key that unlocked an individual’s ability to communicate their needs and wants and to show the world who they are in a more in-depth, personalized way.
Prior to joining Saltillo in 2021, she spent time working as a school based occupational therapist. During this period she was able to organize and co-lead an AAC group at the high school level. Here she provided training to students and staff in order to promote increased and successful use of their speech generating devices. Using her occupational therapy eye, Cherianne was also able to provide interventions around skills required for AAC use including visual perception, fine motor coordination, sensory processing, and executive functioning using a whole-student approach to AAC training. In addition to her school-based experience, Cherianne has worked in the home health and skilled nursing facility settings with the adult and geriatric populations. She truly enjoys working with people of all ages and in all stages of life.
Cherianne holds national registration through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), a state license for Occupational Therapy in Colorado and Wyoming, and is licensed with the Colorado Department of Education.
