Brittney Bourgeois, M.A., CCC-SLP, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) from the University of Florida before completing her Master’s Degree in CSD at the University of Central Florida. During her Master’s program, she was awarded a US-DoEd grant aimed at preparing school-based SLPs to serve English Language Learners, and she subsequently obtained her English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teaching certification.
Prior to joining PRC-Saltillo, Brittney gained assessment and intervention experience in language immersion schools, early intervention, and home health, supporting clients across the lifespan. She began her career at St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS) where her caseload needs centered around using AAC supports to strengthen functional communication skills. Driven by her commitment to giving students a voice, she integrated her knowledge of language development from both the Speech-Language Pathology and ESOL perspective to create a classroom environment that was AAC immersive in nature. In 2018, she co-presented about this experience at Closing the Gap in a presentation called “AAC Language Immersion in the Classroom – The Beauty and The Beast.”
Brittney then joined the SLPS AAC Team where she conducted AAC evaluations, provided training on AAC implementation, and supported families in enhancing communication and connection within the home. Additionally, she had the privilege of serving as a clinical supervisor where she embraced the opportunity to cultivate a passion for AAC in new clinicians.
Brittney holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and a state license in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Missouri.
