Amanda Rains

instructor imageAmanda Rains, M.S., CCC-SLP earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Middle Tennessee State University and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Kentucky University. Her interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) began during graduate school, where she served as the graduate clinician for an AAC group supporting adults with Down syndrome in South Central Kentucky. While working in private practice, Amanda tailored her specialty to serving children and young adults who use AAC. During this time, she conducted comprehensive AAC evaluations, delivered individualized therapy for individuals with diverse speech and language disorders, and partnered with families, caregivers, and colleagues—through in-service trainings and one-on-one coaching—to ensure successful device implementation. In 2021, before joining Assistive Technology Works and later transitioning to PRC-Saltillo, Amanda became a LAMP Certified Professional. This certification enables her to apply the principles of Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) to support individuals using speech-generating devices, integrating evidence-based strategies to promote successful and independent communication.

Amanda strives to empower communicators and those who support them—coaching families, caregivers, and professionals to feel confident in fostering lifelong communication skills. Her commitment to empowering individuals through communication continues to drive her work and advocacy in the field.
