Sarah Waldman, M.S., CCC-SLP, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from the University of Florida. She then went on to earn her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Florida State University. While getting her Master’s degree, she was part of a research team with Dr. Amy Wetherby and the First Words Project, and she also participated in a specialized grant which introduced her to the world of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). After graduating, Sarah worked for many years at an outpatient rehabilitation center for a large children’s hospital, where she completed a year long competency-based program to be an AAC Specialist. As an AAC Specialist for the hospital, Sarah conducted AAC evaluations in both English and Spanish, provided trainings to parents, created home programs for AAC implementation into their routines and did AAC therapy with children. Sarah then worked at a private practice where she was also the lead AAC therapist for the various centers. Sarah is a bilingual, English and Spanish speaker, who enjoys working with multicultural and multilingual families.
Sarah presented to the Florida State University graduate students as a guest speaker during their AAC class during many semesters, and also presented at the North Florida SLACS Conference on iDevice AAC Apps. Sarah maintains a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a state license in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Florida. She is also a member of the ASHA Special Interest Division 12 (AAC division).
