David Kay, M.Ed., OTR, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health Science - Occupational Therapy at the University of Florida and his Master's degree in Special Education Assistive Technology from the George Mason University (VA). He is a Registered Occupational Therapist (OT). Prior to joining the PRC consultant network in 2006 David worked clinically as an OT in acute care, rehabilitation and outpatient settings with children and adults with moderate to severe cognitive, neurologic and physical disabilities. He also worked on contract providing assistive technology assessment and support services to Federal government disability resource centers in Washington, D.C.
In his time at PRC David has developed a specialty in the area of alternative access methods for those with physical disabilities who also use AAC. Along with his work as an augmentative communication specialist, David has traveled the United States providing educational seminars on this topic. In 2014, with the support of PRC, he created the CoreScanner language program – An AAC system designed specifically for individuals who access AAC systems with switches and scanning.
David is Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, is a Licensed Clinician (Occupational Therapist – OTR) in the State of New York and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
