Full of passion, enthusiasm, and creativity, Jane Odom loved her role as developer and curator of the AAC Language Lab®. She was a rock star for AAC and enjoyed making engaging materials for those using AAC and their communication partners. Jane encouraged others in their development of materials and often posted these on the AAC Language Lab.

Jane’s Place—an online space to exchange implementation resources that support individuals who use AAC—was created to honor Jane’s memory. She loved connecting people with AAC resources. We know this project would make Jane smile. We invite you to carry on her legacy here through creative ideas, positivity, and a bit of her trademark playfulness.

"Jane delighted in seeing materials on the AAC Language Lab used to engage and teach AAC learners, as well as their families, and intervention teams,” said Beth Waite-Lafever, M.A., CCC-SLP-ATP. “She wanted to spread AAC love to all and would often say ‘let’s put it on the Lab’ when a wonderful activity was shared with her. By sharing your materials, you are helping Jane to keep that generosity going."

At Jane’s Place, you are encouraged to share implementation materials that you’ve created to support individuals who use PRC-Saltillo language systems. You may have made resources for an activity or book that others would be thrilled to use. Perhaps you've created a game that teaches new vocabulary using a fun theme.

We are especially looking for implementation resources that:

  • represent evidence-based practice for implementing AAC
  • can be easily adapted for multiple language systems and environments
  • are novel to the AAC Language Lab

You may also come to Jane's Place looking for exciting new ideas to help encourage language and communication growth for your AAC learner. Jane envisioned the AAC Language Lab as a place where everyone on the AAC team can find great implementation resources. Activities shared in her honor will be added to the AAC Language Lab for viewing and downloading at no cost.

View activities shared to Jane’s Place.

Want to share an activity or resource to Jane’s Place?

Start by clicking the “Share Materials” button on the Jane’s Place home page which will redirect you to a submission page where you can enter information about the activity you plan to submit. Next, upload your activity in the area provided. Once you have uploaded your materials, agree to the submission terms, and submit your materials.

Materials must be submitted as a PDF, Word Document, or PowerPoint condensed into a zip file. If you need help condensing your files, the links provided will show you how to create a zip file before uploading to Jane’s Place.

Once your materials are submitted, PRC-Saltillo’s training and implementation team will review your submission and let you know if the materials you submitted have been approved, denied, or need adjusted. Note: it may take our team some time to review your submission.

We look forward to seeing your fabulous ideas and continuing Jane’s legacy with your help!
