The CAMA 2024 Virtual Conference is the online place to be! Join the fun on Saturday, May 11 for this interactive experience to learn and explore augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Tiered Vocabulary Approach Meets Core: AAC Vocabulary for All

Wondering about tiered vocabulary and how it applies to your students using AAC? This session provides an overview of research on tiered vocabulary and its connection to existing research on core vocabulary for individuals using AAC. Learn how to identify vocabulary terms that support AAC communicators and provide better access to educational content while also expanding students’ abilities to communicate in social settings in and outside of the classroom. Leave with knowledge and access to online resources for your next steps in the classroom!

As technology changes and grows, AAC systems change and grow too. PRC-Saltillo strives to provide AAC systems with hardware and software features that meet these changing needs. Curious about the perspective of someone who uses AAC? PRC-Saltillo Ambassador Anthony Arnold shares his personal experience with AAC in this afternoon session. He highlights the importance of communication continuing throughout life. Communication isn't something we only do at school and therapy. It’s something we do everywhere! Language progresses throughout a person's life with new vocabulary words gained through experiences, and Anthony recommends a robust vocabulary that supports constant growth.
